3 Tips to Starting Your Perfect Business

This week I was talking to a former team member of our firm who just this week resigned from his current employment to start his own accounting practice. Fortunately he left our firm for lifestyle reasons. However he found difficulty in finding the same culture and values within the two firms he had worked in since leaving us some 2.5 years ago - it would appear that we have set the bar relatively high!
My simple advice to him:
1) Establish a clear mission and articulate firm values such that the culture for the business is clearly defined at
    the outset
2) Clearly articulate your ideal client and use this as a benchmark in determining whether you will accept a
potential new client and establish the types of services you will offer to these clients
3) Define your vision for your business - how will the business look in 1 year, 2 years and 5 years from now
Of course, there are many other factors to consider and plan for - however clearly addressing these 3 issues will establish a sound foundation for the business to develop from.
Have you any additional tips that he should consider?
